Messi Facts

This is our #4 blog.

When Messi was just 11 years old his football dream was threatened, it was really shocking that he was diagnosed with a growth hormone deficiency and at that time the treatment was too expensive, that his family and Newell's were unable to afford it. They were in a serious trouble, but finally they managed the situation, as their relatives in Catalonia, they sought to arrange a trail for Barcelona in September 2000, when Lionel was just 13 years old.

After seeing Lionel Messi, Barcelona's first team director Carles Rexach immediately wanted to sign him.Despite not being able to find any paper, Rexach drew up a contract on a paper napkin which Messi signed.This was the first contract of Lionel Messi.

The Blaugrana agreed to pay for his treatment and so in 2001 Messi joined Barcelona's academy "La Masia"
